Executive summary

The current project proposal is based on the statement of NKTH, phrased from the tender dossier of NAP 2005, which states that if a winner project is successful than it can be extended for another three years by the leader of NKTH.

Hopefully, our results concluded and reported annually in the research reports (three pieces) of BelAmI_H will satisfy the demands and will qualify our consortium for the extension of the project. We should mention that the term of three years (2005-2008) for a research and development project, considering the national circumstances, seems unrealistic.

At the same time we can gladly declare that our consortium based on our developments successfully contracted with industrial partners, and the financial goals of the project were also completely satisfied.

Our efforts regarding the direct utilization in the industrial/service sector of our applied research and development results were also complemented by basic research issues. These results were published in several international forums (conference proceedings and journal papers) and five pending patents.

With the advancement of science the category of Ambient Intelligence (AmI) is also evolving. Nowadays, besides the forth generation info-communication paradigms (cellular, vehicular and sensor networking), the sensorial, multi-modal human-machine interfaces (voice) and software technologies are also considered as potential components of an AmI system.

Our current project proposal represents an instance with an advanced view of the goals of the research project from 2005, by taking into consideration the new advancements in the scientific and technical sector. At the same time the current proposal, besides following and searching of new research topics regarding the AmI systems, will also represent a continuation of our achievements and further market penetration by using a synergy of the previous and new results.
